# See where a portfolio's risk comes from

This add-on explains a portfolio's ups and downs in plain terms. See which bets drive the risk. Test a shock before it happens. Check that each fund does what it says. Keep your model lineup inside its bands.

## Risk split into its parts
A daily factor model explains where a portfolio's risk comes from. It splits the risk into the broad market, styles such as value or size, sectors and single holdings. See how much each holding adds to the total. A small position can carry a large share of the risk. Compare the portfolio with a broad market index. Find the few bets that make it move differently from the market.

## Shocks and past markets
Enter a shock, such as stocks down 20% or rates up one point. See the dollar effect on each account and on the household. Replay a past market, such as a crash or a year when rates rose fast, against today's holdings. Read the total return, the worst month and the deepest drop. Show a client what a bad year could look like before it comes. Then decide together if the mix still fits.

## What a fund really does
Style analysis compares a fund's monthly returns with large and small, value and growth styles. It shows the fund's real style mix. It shows how well that mix explains the returns. It also shows what the manager added beyond style. A fund sold as small value may act like a large blend. Now you can see it and choose with care.

## Style drift over time
A rolling three-year view shows how a fund's style moves. A fund can drift from what it was bought to do. When it does, the change shows up for review. Look at drift fund by fund across a client's accounts. See which funds overlap in style, so two different names do not hide the same bet. Notes on each review stay with the record.

## Your model lineup in the Lineup Lab
The Lineup Lab sets your model lineup against its policy bands. It opens each fund to its holdings and shows overlap between funds. It shows each fund's share of risk next to its share of the money. It shows how far each fund strays from its benchmark. Try a lineup with fewer funds and see what changes. A person approves each change before it takes effect.

## Priced as an add-on
Factor models and style analysis are an add-on to any wealth seat. They work best with the investment tier, which holds the positions they read. The data behind them is billed at its cost plus a stated margin. So you pay for the data you use, and a busy month never raises your seat price. See [pricing](/pricing) for how add-ons are billed.

## See it with an example
