# A plan tested month by month across a thousand simulated paths

The planning suite holds the whole household. It tests the plan across a thousand simulated market paths, month by month. It records each decision along each path. The same plan feeds taxes, protection, estate work and the client's own view. Every wealth seat starts with this tier. The advisor and the client read one picture.

## The whole household in one plan
The plan holds the people, with birth dates, health, earnings records and the states they have lived in. It holds each account type, from taxable and retirement to education and inherited. Annuities, cash, deferred pay and company stock count too, each with its holdings, tax lots and beneficiaries. Eleven kinds of income include pensions with survivor choices, rental and royalty income. Spending sits by category, each with its own inflation rate. Add goals, eight kinds of debt, insurance, homes, rentals and land. Business interests and equity grants count too. Each fact says who supplied it, how sure the source is and when it was true.

## A thousand simulated paths, month by month
A thousand simulated paths is the default. Market returns vary by path and move together as asset classes do. Dates of death vary too. The plan is tested against a long life, a short one and each order of deaths in a couple. Each path is a monthly ledger of income, spending, withdrawals, balances and life events. These are retirement, a benefit claim, the first required distribution, a death, an inheritance and a change of filing status. The same seed always gives the same path. So a result can be reopened and checked years later.

## Taxes worked out for every year of every path
Each year on each path is a real tax return, federal and state. It uses the same tax rules the [tax return tier](/individual-tax) files with. The return reflects that year's income, withdrawals and conversions. It counts the part of benefits that is taxed and the withdrawals the law requires. It shows the income-related premium surcharges a high-income year triggers two years later. Years past the published rules are projected at a stated inflation rate and labeled so. Open any year on any path. Read its return line by line.

## Decisions recorded on every path
Along each path the plan makes and records decisions. It decides how much to spend, when to claim benefits and which accounts to draw from. It picks whether to convert to Roth, when to harvest losses and when to rebalance. Each decision names the rule that made it, what it considered and what it did. Decisions come on a meeting cadence. That is every six months, and every three months in the years before a benefit claim. So the plan acts like a real advisory relationship.

## Spending rules with guardrails
Choose how retirement spending adapts. Pick a fixed amount, or guardrails with a cut line and a raise line. Or pick a banded share of the portfolio or small permanent cuts after a bad year. Or pick an amortized schedule. Spending can take an age shape, with early, middle and late rates. Add a long-term care event at a chosen age. Each rule changes only the spending above a floor. The floor pays for needs and is never cut. A year the rule could not be followed is recorded as a breach. The chance of a breach is shown by age.

## Benefits, conversions and estate projection
The claiming map compares each claiming age for one person or a couple. It includes spousal, survivor and divorced benefits. It ranks the best strategies. Roth conversion analysis shows how much room each year has before the next bracket or surcharge. State tax is included. Required withdrawals and gifts to charity are in the plan. So are yearly and lifetime gifts, with the gift-tax forms they need. At each death the estate is settled. That covers the gross estate, federal and state estate tax and the unused exclusion carried to a spouse. It covers step-ups in basis and what each heir or trust gets.

## Trusts, entities and generations
Fifteen kinds of trust and entity are modeled. Some hold money for a spouse or pay an annuity back to the giver. Some give to charity. Others hold life insurance, a home or a family partnership. Funding a trust is a dated plan instruction. So are an installment sale to a trust, an intra-family loan, an estate freeze and a business sale. Family members carry their generation, so transfers that skip a generation are seen. One plan spans parents, children and trusts. A family can share a summary across linked households.

## Results, scenarios and protection
Results show the chance of success at several confidence levels. They show the age the plan runs short. They show wealth by percentile, spending capacity and yearly taxes. Save a scenario and change a few facts. Compare terminal wealth, chance of success and lifetime taxes against the base plan. Life insurance needs, an essential-income floor and annuity income are sized against the same plan. In the portal, the client sees the decisions delivered, their estate picture and their coverage.
