# Review the controls around advisory work

Weigh the platform's controls against your firm's duties and record rules. Software helps a program run. It does not decide if a firm has met each duty.

## Information sharing
Look at what the client has said yes to for shared work. Check what it covers and who it names. See which household facts and sent documents people can reach. See which private work stays inside the engagement.

## Review and records
See how each step is checked and logged. That means proposed plan changes, messages and a professional's decisions. Confirm the capture sources we support. Confirm how long records are kept and the formats you can export. Confirm any gaps for the services you plan to offer.

## Decisions and execution
Analysis alone does not place a trade or approve a transfer. Confirm where each step ends. The steps are: drafting a recommendation, checking it and getting the client's choice. Do the same for any step that needs its own approval.

## Evaluate your practice's requirements
[Talk with us](/contact) about what you need, and read [Security & Control](/trust). Look at what the service covers and what it takes to run it. Then hold both up to your firm's rules.
